I’ve posted this before, but for some reason the self-reblog function isn’t working when I try to reblog my old post, so I’m making a new one. Anyway I just got super bummed-out because of Liv pointing out that probably one of the reasons why Candice Accola can talk like this is because she knows there’s not a fucking thing she can do about it and her opinion is worthless to the writers who are determined to PANDER ALL THE WAY!!! AH HA HA HA HA HA
But I s2g, I look at this and it makes me WEEP:
Julie Plec: “Caroline and Klaus is a very, very tricky relationship, in that we can all understand why she’s drawn to him, because we’re drawn to him.”
Candice Accola: “I still think it’s hilarious that people want Caroline and Klaus together.”
“I think Caroline is very convinced that she can convince Klaus to back off so that’s going to be her new goal moving forward.”
Julie Plec: “You can look at the Caroline/Klaus relationship as something that will live on, in a way, even when he’s not on the show. The want is still there.”
Candice Accola: “I just don’t see the longevity in it and I don’t see any emotional truth to it.”
Julie Plec: “We fight with each other and with ourselves as writers, because we genuinely love Klaus in spite of all his effed up behaviors and his darkness and his terrible, terrible attitude and his evil.”
Candice Accola: “The writers can take it whichever way that they want, but the Caroline I’ve gotten to know in the past four years, I don’t know.”
Julie Plec: “Joseph gets a little tear in his eye and gives Caroline a puppy dog look and you just want him to have everything he wants.”
Candice Accola: “I don’t think Caroline’s perspective of Klaus has changed at all…she’s not falling into any sort of romanticized version of the possibility of Klaus being a nice guy.”
“The Caroline that we met in Season 1 would’ve slept with [Klaus] last season, but Caroline now is just like, ‘No. That’s not what I want. I know all these bad things about you.’ We’re dealing with a mass murderer original vampire, so that’s not necessarily relatable, but when you humanize the whole situation, it’s really just a matter of — Caroline used to be young and date bad boys. She dated Damon. And now this new smooth-talking bad boy comes into town and she’s like ‘You know what? I already know how this story ends. I already know exactly how you’re going to be, and I don’t want it anymore, and so you can chase me until the sun comes up, but I’m still going to know better.’”
“I think Caroline has every right not to have any respect for Damon. He used her and mentally, physically and emotionally abused her.”
Julie Plec: “It’s a constant battle of fighting the attraction that’s very clearly brewing, but knowing she can never go there and still be true to herself.”
Candice Accola: “I think maybe Caroline is flattered by his attention; that might be the attraction that the viewers are seeing. But ultimately, she’s not buying into it.”
“Right now Tyler has been such a strong core in Caroline accepting who she is. Tyler was the first person who accepted her for who she was and allowed her to blossom. So, I feel like it’s that first true love and right now it’s very strong and unbreakable. Who knows as the characters grow up and grow older? But right now I don’t see her being like, ‘I’m going to … get on OK Cupid and see what else is out there.”
I don’t think anyone despises this show and the things it do quite as much as its cast does. Damn. It’s delicious.
